ALPHAKLEEN at a glance.

ALPHAKLEEN is a family of flexible PVC compounds for extrusion and molding that was formerly offered under the SYLVIN name. Only the former SYLVIN grades formulated with FDA-sanctioned ingredients were renamed ALPHAKLEEN; general-purpose PVC compounds continue under the SYLVIN brand. ALPHAKLEEN grades span a hardness range of 45 to 95 Shore A, helping engineers select the balance of flexibility, feel, and durability required for the finished component.

Grades are available either clear or opaque, with a glossy or matte finish. Additional formulation options include compounds formulated without reportable phthalates and grades designed for low-temperature flexibility.

Built for performance

Formulated with FDA-sanctioned ingredients for food contact applications.
  • Polymer: Flexible vinyl (polyvinyl chloride or PVC)

  • Ingredient profile: Formulated with ingredients sanctioned by the U.S. FDA under applicable provisions of Title 21 CFR

  • Processing: Extrusion and molding grades

  • Hardness range: 45 to 95 Shore A

  • Appearance: Available either clear or opaque, with a glossy or matte finish

  • Formulation options: Grades are available formulated without reportable phthalates, and certain grades are designed for low-temperature flexibility.

  • NSF options: Certain grades are designed to meet NSF/ANSI 51 material testing requirements.

ALPHAKLEEN supports a wide range of applications.

ALPHAKLEEN PVC compounds can be considered for a broad range of extruded and molded products, including:

  • Beverage tubing

  • Food-processing hose and connections

  • Food-contact conveyor belts

  • Valves and seals

  • Water drain lines

  • Hearing-aid components

  • Weather seals

  • Blood-pressure cuff valves

  • Beverage coasters and lids

  • Oil-resistant vacuum cups

  • Components for food equipment applications requiring materials designed to meet NSF/ANSI 51 testing requirements

ALPHAKLEEN and SYLVIN - understanding the difference.

The brand name ALPHAKLEEN was introduced in 2024 as the new brand name for a subset of flexible PVC compounds previously sold under the SYLVIN brand.  The ALPHAKLEEN grades are formulated with ingredients sanctioned by the U.S. FDA and intended for food-contact, skin-contact, and other non-medical applications.

General-purpose PVC compounds for automotive, consumer, industrial, and wire applications remain under the SYLVIN brand name.

For the renamed grades (ALPHAKLEEN), only the brand name changed; the rest of the material designation, ingredients, formulation, and manufacturing process remained unchanged.
