PVC Compounds Designed for Performance and Processability
POLIVISOL PVC compounds are flexible vinyl materials developed for extrusion and injection molding applications across consumer goods, building and construction, automotive and industrial markets.
The portfolio includes established grades for common application needs, along with formulation flexibility to support targeted performance, processing and color requirements. Materials are available from 45 Shore A up to approximately 45 Shore D for semi-rigid applications, with clear or natural bases, performance additives and custom color options available across much of the range.
Formulation Range & Capabilities
POLIVISOL offers a wide formulation range for applications where flexibility, durability, process stability and appearance all need to work together.
Formulations can be adjusted with performance additives to help address requirements such as:
-
Flame resistance for applications requiring recognized flame performance
-
Low-temperature flexibility to help maintain material performance in colder environments
-
Operating temp range from 60C to 105C
-
UV resistance for outdoor or sunlight-exposed parts
-
Chemical resistance based on the expected exposure environment
-
Fungus resistance for applications exposed to humid or biological conditions
-
Pre-colored and custom colors using clear or opaque bases to support application-specific color targets
Because flexible PVC performance depends on the full formulation, changes to one property can affect others. POLIVISOL vinyl compounds are developed with those trade-offs in mind, balancing processing behavior, mechanical performance and durability against the needs of the final application.
Built for Extrusion or Injection Molding Applications
POLIVISOL grades can be selected based on the intended processing method, whether the application requires extrusion or injection molding. They are formulated for reliable processing on conventional equipment, helping manufacturers maintain consistency without routine process changes from lot to lot.
-
Extrusion applications, including wire insulation and jacketing, profiles, tubing, hose, automotive wiring and flexible cord
-
Injection molding applications for parts with detailed shapes, consistent size or repeatable production needs
UL Recognition
Selected POLIVISOL grades carry UL component recognition for plastic component and wire and cable applications.
-
UL QMFZ2 plastic component recognition, including UL 94 V-0, UL 94 5VA and UL 94 HB ratings
-
UL QMTT2 recognition for polymeric materials used in insulation or jacket applications, including THHW, THHN, THW, THW-2, TW, THWN and THWN-2 constructions, with oil resistance I and II and VW-1 options
-
Grades developed to support ANCE requirements for cable jacket and insulation applications
Support for Wire & Cable Designs
POLIVISOL PVC compounds support wire and cable designs where electrical performance, temperature rating, flame behavior and processability must be considered together. Available grades are used in building wire, automotive wire and related insulation and jacketing applications that require consistent material performance.
For wire and cable applications, POLIVISOL grades are available to support 60°C, 75°C, 90°C and 105°C operating temperature requirements. POLIVISOL 1996 is widely chosen for building wire because it carries UL-recognized status for THW-2 and THWN-2 constructions.
For automotive wire applications, certain POLIVISOL grades are formulated to meet demanding processing and performance requirements, including ISO 6722-1 and specifications for AV, AVS, AVSS, CAVS and low-voltage automotive wire insulation.
Automotive wire acronyms used in this section include:
-
AV — Automotive low-tension wire
-
AVS — Automotive low-tension thin-wall wire
-
AVSS — Automotive low-tension ultra-thin-wall wire
-
CAVS — Compressed automotive low-tension thin-wall wire
